The #1 issue in NY24 is healthcare. People in rural America were finally beginning to get healthcare coverage for their families, who may never have had insurance before, because of the Affordable Care Act. With Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” going into effect, many are struggling with either high insurance premiums and/or high co-pays. Some families are having to opt out of healthcare altogether because the
costs are too high, and they cannot afford it.
This administration delivers devastating cuts to the very programs our communities rely on. It slashes Medicaid by nearly $1 trillion and imposes punitive work requirements that could strip coverage from thousands of families across NY24. In rural areas like ours, Medicaid isn’t just a safety net—it’s the backbone of local clinics, hospitals, and homecare services. Claudia Tenney voted for this bill, turning her back on the people who depend on affordable, accessible care.
Diana knows firsthand what it means to fight for compassionate healthcare. In Congress, she’ll work to protect Medicaid, expand rural health access, and ensure no one in our district is left behind. She believes we need to begin the move towards a single-payer system as healthcare should be a right, not a privilege, for all. She says, “We can no longer yo-yo between the two parties’ ideas of healthcare every election cycle as insurance companies continue to raise premiums, pricing many Americans out of affordable care. The time is now to join the ranks of civilized countries towards true universal healthcare.”
